Alumni Ask a Librarian - AIM Express Installation

Use AIM Express to get in touch with your online buddies when you are away from your home computer and send instant messages when you can't download the AIM software. 

Note: New users must first register for an Instant Messenger screen name and password.

To IM with a Pepperdine Librarian:

1. Click here to launch AIM Express
2. When a new window opens, enter your screen name and password then click on Sign On.
3. Click the IM button near the bottom of the window.
4. Another window will open.

• Enter PeppRef in the To: box at the top of the window
• Type your question in the lower box
• Click on Send at the bottom of the window

5. This will launch an IM session with a Pepperdine Librarian.

Instructions for New Users:

1. Make sure that you are using a computer that meets
   AIM Express requirements.
2. Go to the AIM Express web page and click on the Start button.
3. When a new window opens click on
   Don't have a Screen Name? Get One Free!
4. Complete the Instant Messenger Registration form and
   click on Submit.
   Finding a unique screen name may take several tries.
   Please be patient.
5. Now follow the directions above.
   (You will need to go back to the AIM Express web page and
   click on the Start button again.)
6. Note: You will eventually receive a confirmation e-mail from
   Instant Messenger. Reply to this message within 48 hours
   to complete the registration process.
