Individual Consultations

Pepperdine librarians provide individual consultations in information-seeking skills and the use of library resources.  Individual consultations may cover strategy and selection of library resources from both print and electronic sources.

To arrange for individual consultations, please contact one of our Library Subject Liaisons at either Payson Library or one of our Graduate Campus Libraries.

Our Ask an Expert service helps deliver reference services via e-mail and instant messaging.

Q. Who can use our Ask an Expert reference service?
A. This service is intended primarily for current students, faculty, and
staff of Pepperdine University. Alumni are also welcome!

Q. When are Ask an Expert email questions answered?
A. Questions are generally answered within 24 hours, Monday through Friday. Questions received on the weekend, however, are addressed the following Monday.

Q. What kinds of questions can I ask?
A. Pepperdine reference librarians can answer any questions you have about library resources or services, finding materials via WorldCat Local, and selecting and searching useful databases, journals, and websites.

Q. Can I use the instant messaging service from home?
A. Yes, since our instant messaging service is web-based, you can  use the service from anywhere.

Q. What if I can't get through to the instant message (chat) service or no one answers?
A. If all the librarians are busy with other patrons, you may also contact reference librarians at the locations listed below.
