Girls in the Curl Photo Contest Rules

The Pepperdine University Libraries invite you to participate in the photo contest portion of the upcoming Girls in the Curl surf event happening at Pepperdine University in Malibu on Saturday, Feb 6!

Theme: Use your creative eye to capture a current photo that conveys (a) the essence and spirit of surfing, (b) coastal lifestyles, (c) women in surfing, or (d) coastal scenery.

Photos: All photos will be reviewed and the top 20 finalists will be printed, framed and placed on display during the Girls in the Curlevent February 6th.

Judging: Surf photographer, publisher and author, Guy Motil will judge and award CASH prizes for the top three photos from among the 20 finalists! Motil will consider: how well the image fits the theme; the general aesthetic of the image; the emotional response of viewers; and the photographer’s overall skill and/or artistic talent.

Prizes: 1st Place – $250         2nd Place – $150        3rd Place – $50

Auction: Each of the top 20 photos on display will be auctioned to raise money for the Malibu Historical Collection at the Pepperdine University Library.

Deadline: All submissions must be posted by January 31, 2010.

Rules of Submission: Each submission must include the name of the artist, title of the photo, date of the photo, and email contact information for the artist.  Multiple submissions are allowed from each artist, but only one photo per person will be eligible for the cash prizes.  Submission secures rights for image reproduction by Pepperdine University Libraries for fundraising resale purposes only.
