Leigh Wiener: The Artist at Work
August 16–November 20, 2019
Over the course of a fifty-year career, Leigh Wiener (1929-1993) captured iconic images
that appeared in hallmark publications including the Los Angeles Times, Life, Time,
Fortune, and Sports Illustrated. This spring, Pepperdine Libraries presents a sampling
of the myriad prints that Wiener produced in his darkroom. The photographs offer intimate
snapshots of Hollywood legends, Jazz Age greats, U.S. presidents, and other leading
figures in twentieth-century America. Viewed together, they uniquely capture what
it means to be an artist—from both sides of the camera.
