Locations, Hours, and Visitor Information

Inspired by the University’s mission, Pepperdine Libraries serve our learning community by facilitating exploration, discovery, and creativity. There are three library locations in Malibu (Drescher Graduate Campus Library, Jerene Appleby Harnish Law Library, and Payson Library) and other libraries across the greater Los Angeles area (West Los Angeles Graduate Campus Library, Irvine Graduate Campus Library, and Calabasas Campus Library).

Payson Library

Payson Library is the state-of-the-art flagship library at the heart of the Seaver College campus in Malibu. Among the wide array of spaces within Payson, it is home to the Boone Special Collections and Archives, featuring books, archives, and other historic documents that support research in multiple disciplines; Genesis Lab, a makerspace with emerging technology, including 3D printers and virtual reality rigs; the Jerry Rushford Center for Research on Churches of Christ and the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement, supporting the research of church history; the Exhibit Gallery, featuring a rotating schedule of exhibitions; and an on-site Starbucks, where visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee with friends or fuel their studies. Parking is available in the Seaver Main Lot (lot B). When entering the University from Malibu Canyon Road, it is on the left, one-quarter mile up Seaver Drive from the guard house.

Today's Hours:

Drescher Graduate Campus Library

The Drescher Graduate Campus Library in Malibu supports the research, learning, and teaching needs of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, the Graziadio Business School, and the School of Public Policy, the latter of which is headquartered at Drescher. The library also houses the Drescher iLab, a makerspace where the community can work with emerging technology including 3D printers and studios for recording videos and podcasts. Spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean abound at Drescher Library, making it an ideal location for peaceful study. Parents who live on campus are invited to bring their children to enjoy a diverse selection of kid-friendly books and media in the children's lounge. The library is located at the Drescher Graduate Campus at the top of Benton Way and features ample parking in the adjacent lot (lot S). Drescher Library serves faculty, staff, students, alumni, and their families.

Today's Hours:

Irvine Graduate Campus Library

The Irvine Graduate Campus Library supports the Graduate School of Education and Psychology and the Graziadio Business School in Orange County. The campus is located in the Lakeshore Business Complex, just east of the John Wayne Orange County Airport, at the intersection of Von Karman and 405 southbound freeway. Pepperdine has its facilities on the second, third and fourth floors of the Lakeshore Towers Building III, with the library on the second floor. Parking is provided in the adjacent parking structure.

Today's Hours:

West Los Angeles Graduate Campus Library

The West Los Angeles Graduate Campus Library supports the research, learning, and teaching needs of the Graziadio Business School and the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, both of which are headquartered in West Los Angeles. The library houses the West LA iLab, a makerspace where the students and faculty can work with emerging technology including 3D printers and studios for recording videos and podcasts. The library boasts having lots of study space in a quiet environment. The West Los Angeles Graduate Campus is located near the intersection of Howard Hughes Parkway and the 405 freeway. The library is on the first floor, straight past the lobby reception and the elevators. Convenient parking is provided in an underground parking structure.

Today's Hours:

Calabasas Campus Library

The Calabasas Campus Library serves the students and faculty of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology and the Graziadio Business School in Calabasas. The library space is designed with warm colors, comfortable seating, and inviting decor to encourage study, and the in-library computers and printer support students with their learning and research. The Calabasas Campus is located between Las Virgenes Road and Lost Hills Road, with close proximity to the 101 Freeway, and features plenty of parking surrounding the two-story building. The library is an unstaffed space, open whenever the Calabasas Campus is open, so visitors should call the Payson Library front desk with any questions.

Law students have 24 hour access by tapping their Pepperdine ID and entering their PIN on the card reader outside of the library. Pepperdine Libraries Visitor Policy

Visitors to Payson Library – including members of the Malibu community, families of students/alumni, or those attending other official University events – are welcomed to Payson Library for up to two hours daily to attend library programming and consult the print collections.  Additionally, members of the public who wish to use government documents at Payson may do so with the assistance of a librarian by making an appointment. Researchers requesting access to Boone Special Collections and Archives need to email us to make arrangements before visiting.

Individuals interested in checking out books are welcome to join the Friends of the Library or become a Waves Associate. Electronic resources, computers, printers, scanners, and interlibrary loan services are limited to current Pepperdine students, faculty, and staff. Alumni have access to a selection of databases, and members of the general public can always use our open access materials; to see a list of free resources, visit the All Services and Tools page and click on the “General Public” tab.

The graduate campus libraries serve faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Friends and Waves Associates may also use this space for up to two hours per day.

Service animals are allowed in the libraries as outlined in the University Policy for Animals on Campus. Emotional support animals and pets are not allowed in the libraries unless they're in the building as part of a sanctioned university event. For additional assistance and questions on accommodations, please contact the Office of Student Accessibility.

In addition to the six locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area, we also have libraries at Pepperdine's international campuses
